Whether you’ve seen him play live, or have listened to one of his mixes, DJ Shy is dedicated to his artistry, and will prove that his skills, passion and ambition deserves to be recognized, locally and worldwide.
Dj Shy Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, one of the most diverse places in the world, DJ Shy has grown to appreciate and love an abundance of cultures and genres of music, which ultimately plays a role in his ability to be versatile and unique. Being raised in a Trinidadian household, DJ Shy initially developed his allegiance to soca and calypso, two genres that are very dear to his heart. His father, a music fanatic, also exposed him to reggae, disco, pop, oldies, R&B, etc., developing his interests at an early age. With his unquestionable love for music and the support of his parents and friends, DJ Shy took his interests to the next level, when he acquired his own set of DJequipment, ultimately starting the journey of his professional DJ career. Devoting most of his time on practicing his mixing and scratching skills, DJ Shy realized that he had the ability to turn his dreams into reality, by keeping a good work ethic and staying humble, yet determined.
Teaming up with a few friends from high school, “360 Entertainment,” was created- a sound crew that would play at school dances, and house parties, mainly catering to peers their age. Eventually being recognized for his talents, DJ Shy started getting booked for all ages events, and occasionally 19+ events, by local promoters and venues. Accepting as many gigs as possible, and endlessly working to surpass expectations, DJ Shy started getting bigger opportunities throughout Toronto, and other big cities in Ontario. Before he knew it, he was being booked for parties he dreamt about DJing at while attending them, and was working alongside some of his idols: Dr. Jay, Private Ryan, D’Bandit, Jester, E-Man, Spex, etc. By joining forces with some of the veterans in the industry, it was helping to open doors he’s been dreaming of, and DJ Shy was determined to make the most out of it.
DJ Shy has been featured on big name parties, at venues and on boat rides, he has made appearances at successful weekly parties, he frequently DJ’s at Socacize, and on broadcasted radio shows, and he has partaken in 24DJs, not once, but twice. Aside from accomplishing his goals of working with his idols, DJ Shy has also collaborated with a few close friends and threw numerous parties of his own, in addition to creating and producing his own mixes that were downloaded by an incredible amount of people. Having the taste of success in his mouth, DJ Shy is more driven than ever. Appreciative of all of the support and opportunities he has been blessed with over the years, DJ Shy vows to continuously educate himself on the craft of DJing and music production. He attests to please his audience, regardless of age, diversity, size, or location. He believes music is a universal language, and by sharing his love and passion in this form of artistry, DJ Shy hopes to connect with every individual listening, and aspires to create unity amongst people abroad.
